The paper investigates the overlapping between the actions proposed within the National Strategy for Inner Areas and the lines of slow tourism included in national programs and strategies. It aims to verify the integration between two public policies developed in the same period that usually involve the same territories. Slow tourism and local development, especially in marginal areas, are often used as a lever for actions and project proposals. Understanding how this binomial works in the projects funded within the Italian policies for Inner Areas is necessary. Therefore, the paper proposes a specific analysis of the local development projects of the municipalities that intersect a walking and a cycle path: the Via Francigena and the cycle path of the Apulian Aqueduct.
