The emergence of the new peasantries in the rural regions is an answer to the crisis of the agricultural modernization. The multifunctionality in agriculture can stimulate the production of the external economies, the local public goods and the innovation. Moreover, the local specificities (as cultivars and food, knowledge, countryside) have become very meaningful to create natural comparative advantages to resist and compete in the global economy.

Keywords: New peasantries, multifunctionality, local public goods, innovation, modernization, informal economy
