The primary aim of the journal Management Control is to communicate the results of high quality theoretical and empirical studies. The journal seeks to publish articles that have international appeal and are able to integrate the traditional values of Italian researches in the field of business administration with the recent studies carried out in the international context. In this way, the Management Control journal intends to encourage the process of internationalization of Italian academic research.

The articles must be methodologically and theoretically sound and should deal with one of the themes that fall in the broad area of management control systems.
The editors consider articles for publication which fit into one or more of the following categories:
- Systems of strategic planning and management control, including business planning, budgetary processes and the relationship between strategy and management control (Area "Planning & Budgeting");
- Systems of cost accounting and performance measurement and management (Area "Cost & Performance");
- Information systems and reporting processes, including the analysis, the design and the management of the IT components as well as the organizational issues (Area "Information System");
- Systems of management and operational auditing, including the assessment of the effectiveness of IT and operational processes as well as the analysis of the internal control models (Area "Management audit").
A section of the journal concerns the analysis of company’s best practices and business cases on management control systems (section "Best Practices").
The articles will be submitted to a double blind review. Preliminarily an initial assessment will be carried out by the Editor-in-chief to assess if the article fits with the aim/scope of the journal.
