American Psychological Association lists Terapia familiare on its PsycINFO Journal Coverage List, a bibliographic database containing the most prestigious journals and publications in the field for use as a reference for articles and quotations. Terapia Familiare was founded in June 1977 and is the most important journal wholly dedicated to family studies, research and clinical intervention. The most relevant international authors in the field have published work in Terapia Familiare.
Over the course of 30 years, the Journal has published articles on family and couple psychotherapy and network intervention in different social contexts, on institutional issues and research in the field, and on issues related to family therapy training and supervision.
Special issues have been published on children in family therapy, depression, pioneers of family therapy, the ethics of family therapy and family crisis in a multicultural society, etc.

Terapia Familiare utilizza una procedura di referaggio doppiamente cieco (double blind peer review process), i revisori sono scelti in base alla specifica competenza e appartenenti al comitato direttivo e/o di redazione. Nel caso di giudizi discordanti tra i due referee, il lavoro verrà inviato a un terzo referee appartenente agli assistenti alla direzione. L’articolo verrà inviato in forma anonima per evitare possibili influenze dovute al nome dell’autore. La redazione può decidere di non sottoporre ad alcun referee l’articolo perchè giudicato non pertinente o non rigoroso nè rispondente a standard scientifici adeguati. I giudizi dei referee saranno inviati all’autore anche in caso di risposta negativa. Entro 6 settimane dal ricevimento dell’articolo la redazione si impegna ad inviare all’autore, sempre in forma anonima, le osservazioni dei referee. Il referaggio sarà predisposto sulla base di una scheda rispettante gli standard adottati dalle principali riviste internazionali.
