Sportization of Health ABSTRACT: The essay shows how the phenomenon usually defined as sportization is connected with widespread transformations regarding aesthetics, ethics and values in the transition from modernity to postmodernity. Step by step physical efficiency has been not only involved in the production of meaning linked to seduction and desire, but also represented as a new virtual right of citizenship. Moving from the philosophy of the so-called sport for all, the concept of fitness is developed in the direction of wellness. At the same time the social representations of health and illness are connected with new emerging cultural patterns.
