Tra i lettori della rivista è in atto un dibattito permanente, dove in tempo reale, grazie alla posta elettronica, i partecipanti interloquiscono su tutto quanto è attinente alla clinica e alla formazione (vignette cliniche, commenti, critiche, riflessioni). Lo spazio massimo consentito per ogni intervento è di una "pagina" di 52 righe carattere corpo 12. In questa sezione confluisce numeroso, il materiale accumulatosi nel quadrimestre precedente.

The Milan Expo 2015 Forum - The Forum for debate and observations on the forthcoming Expo in Milan proceeds apace with the publication of talks given at the international convention titled Grandi eventi: effetti territoriali a confronto per una riflessione su Expo Milano 2015 (Major Events: A comparative study of their effects on local areas and communities for a reflection on the Milan Expo 2015). The conference, which took place at the Milan Polytechnic on 24 October 2008 and was promoted by staff and students of the doctoral degree course in ‘Urban and Environmental Planning’, sought to assess the possible after-effects of Expo 2015. Several local experts evaluated the results of four similar cases. The first of these were Valencia and Zaragoza in Spain, the former having been the location of three major events which leave speaker Fernando Gaja i Diaz somewhat dumbfounded, while the latter, which played host to Expo 2008, is judged positively by Javier Monclus. We can add to these Turin (Winter Olympics 2006) and Genoa (a number of important events between 1992 and 2004), both of which come in for praise from Chito Guala and Francesco Gastaldi, who underline the positive results of urban regeneration and local upgrading. These considerations provide the basis on which the debate on the opportunities and risks of the Milan Expo can be reopened.

The Lombard planning law judged by the plans it has produced - It is now four years since the law on planning in Lombardy was passed and it is both necessary and appropriate to begin an examination of the results, to which the academic viewpoint of the polytechnic can make a contribution. Examination and discussion of the results of this law is necessary even if the recent Regional Law No. 5/2009 postponed the deadline for compliance with the new planning rules by municipalities by one year. A few questions were posed to pinpoint possible ambiguities and weak points in the recent Lombard Law to which the planners who prepared the new general plans have answered both directly and by contributing to the debate over the effectiveness of the law. The weaknesses of the law already known (strategic planning document with no explicit structural values, two sectoral compliance plans, no operational co-ordination plan) have not prevented explicit and innovative discussion of the issues central to municipal planning in the cases presented with results of great cultural and critical importance.

Urban redevelopment projects - The doctorate students of the 13th edition of ‘Urban, territorial and environmental planning’ dealt with important theoretical questions concerning the redevelopment of abandoned and underused urban areas in the basic ‘Urban planning course’. The essays published here present three situations in which an examination is made of the main stages in the transformation of areas, the legislative instruments that were used, the objectives set by planners, the expected outcomes and the effects induced. The three cases are presented as examples although with different degrees of planning consistency and effectiveness: one clear case of success expected and achieved at Bercy (Paris); one case of circumscribed success, but with unplanned outcomes within the Pompeo Leoni area (Milan); one case of success, but with unsettling effects on the relationship with the surrounding urban context Jaffa (Israel).

Le residenze studentesche in moduli tipo container sono una pratica attiva in paesi del nord Europa e consiste nell’occupazione temporanea di terreni liberi, in attesa di essere trasformati, con insediamenti attrezzati ad ospitare studenti e servizi. A partire da una nota esperienza olandese realizzata dal comune di Amsterdam con la ditta Tempohousing, è stata presentata e discussa pubblicamente una prima ipotesi progettuale per la città di Milano rivolta in particolare alla popolazione studentesca. Durante l’incontro ‘Case temporanee per comunità di studenti’ l’obiettivo è stato infatti indagare se i moduli tipo container possono rappresentare una soluzione abitativa per popolazioni studentesche e altre categorie fragili che faticano a trovare risposta nel mercato. Dall’incontro sono emersi elementi utili per la progettazione e la gestione nell’ipotesi che vengano accolti dall’amministrazione comunale milanese.

Spazi vuoti che non trovano ancora un nuovo utilizzo, possono trovare un uso temporaneo in quel ‘tempo di mezzo’ di anni, e spesso decenni, che intercorre tra vecchia e nuova destinazione d’uso. L’articolo introduce sei campi di indagine ed approfondimento tematico. Nella prima sezione ci si domanda che cosa significa riuso temporaneo. La seconda parte del servizio lo rappresenta in un diagramma. Una terza parte è dedicata ai casi ed esperienze internazionali. La quarta parte del servizio guarda a Milano, quale campo di indagine, progettualità e sperimentazione. Nella quinta sezione vengono presentate alcune delle idee progettuali emerse durante la ricerca ‘Temporiuso’ a cura del laboratorio multiplicity.lab del Diap e delle associazioni Cantieri Isola e Precare. it. La sesta e ultima sezione prova a confrontare esperti e ricercatori del riuso urbano e sollecitare alcuni temi emergenti.
