This note intends to enter into the current debate on differentiated autonomy (ex art. 116.3 of the Italian Constitution), presenting some starting points for an economic analysis about competences and resources for the applicant Regions. Previously, it is necessary to review briefly the political background on the regional autonomy to clarify the context in which, according to the writer, the present requests for "further forms of autonomy" - proposed by the Emilia-Romagna, Lombardia and Veneto Regions - will place themselves.
