The Covid-19 emergency accelerated the experimentation of new ways of providing healthcare services, enhancing the combination of digital healthcare and telemedicine tools with traditional specialist outpatient services. In particular, telemedicine concerns the provision of medical care via the use of telecommunication technology: patients have the option to seek treatment by their specialist remotely. The project carried on by Mater Domini teaching hospital (located in Catanzaro) fits into this context: it proposes a model for taking charge and monitoring patients with multichronic conditions. The project is aimed at delivering high-level medical services to patients at “their own home”, even in critical situations such as the current one of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.
