Prima e dopo la legge 180: una psicologa in manicomio

The Association of Psychoanalytic Studies (A.S.P.) has remembered on October 24, 2009 Dr. Teresa Piacentini Corsi, a psychoanalyst and pediatrist, who died in 2008. She was a founder of the Association and a psychoanalyst who affected many students and colleagues with her work. In her time Teresa Piacentini Corsi was an innovator, a different voice in clinical practice and theory, addressing many issues that came to the fore in psychoanalysis many years later, like the techniques in the relational approach and the attention on gender difference in the clinical setting. The two articles, published in this journal, are the presentations made by Dr. Eugenia Omodei Zorini and Dr. Claudia Zanardi, in remembrance of Teresa Piacentini Corsi, on October 24, 2009. The articles are published in the spontaneous and emotional format in which they had been presented. They describe, through her writings and the presenters’ experience with her, Teresa’s extensive passionate work in individual psychoanalysis, in groups and in the Institutions. The articles also show the warm and profound connection of the presenters with an intuitive, bright, open minded analyst, a wonderful teacher, and a free thinker. Also re-printed in this journal is an article written by Dr. Piacentini Corsi and Dr. Zanardi in 1994, chosen from among many others, because it focuses on women’s psyche development and pre-verbal communications in the psychoanalytic relationship, that had been Teresa’s main interests. The article takes into consideration women’s body symptoms as voices of conflict between unconscious attachment to old identifications, transmitted through generations, and new models of female identity in a changing society. Women’s eating disorders are listened to as a body language in a psychological/social framework that reads clinical examples through psychoanalytical and feminist theory.
