The Authors describe the main issues of the immigration process, outlining emotional cut-off, family uprooting of many people forced to leave their Countries for a better life quality or for escaping from poverty or war in their land. In particular they illustrate the impact of cultural diversities inside the family therapy movement and their clinical work with immigrant families who attend the Service for Immigrant Families Consultation at the Department of Clinical and Dinamic Psychology, University "La Sapienza" in Rome. Through clinical examples the Authors describe the importance of giving back competence to immigrant families, by using cultural resource, traditional values and "history memory" of the same families and entering in their world though genograms, home visits and session with friends.
