Paolo Migone replies to Gherardo Amadei’s discussion (see Psicoterapia e Scienze Umane, 2010, 44, 4: 526-530) of his own paper "The problem of ‘translation’ of aspects of oriental philosophies into western psychotherapy" (see Psicoterapia e Scienze Umane, 2010, 44, 1: 35-52). The following issues, among others, are discussed: the supposed oriental origin of psychotherapeutic techniques such as mindfulness, the common clinical phenomena in different cultures and their understanding, the role of repetition of "exercises" in such techniques, the theoretical and technical difference between "psychodynamic" and "cognitive-behavioral" approaches, and so on.

Keywords: Mindfulness, oriental philosophies, theories of psychotherapy, psychodynamic therapy (PDT), cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT)
