The evolution of society changed our point of view about some aspects of psychopathology.The emphasis shifts from pathology of conflicts, encouraged by a repressive society, to a pathology of ties, limits and dependency encouraged from a liberal society. The drive issue of aggressivity and sexuality can be thought of only dialectically with that of identity, limits, fear to being overwhelmed or abandonment by the individuals affected. The failure of narcissism as the importance of the early insecure relationships of these subjects, occupies a central position in the understanding of these diseases. Adolescence is a privileged moment of expression of these issues. The weight limits, both biological and social, give to the Ego a central role in their management. Its ability to cope or, on the contrary, its vulnerability to traumatic overflows are central variables in the prognosis. This development questions the classic models of psychotherapy and, in general, the most effective tools to encourage a change in the subjects.
