This article shows that the use of video-recording of communication processes allows the researchers to build indicators which are very helpful for the evaluation of the concrete communication processes between the operators and the addressees in which the social intervention takes form empirically. In particular, this article discusses a specific case study, that is, the evaluation of a social intervention addressed to the promotion of the European citizenship among students of secondary schools in Modena. The video-recording of communication processes allows to build three key indicators for the evaluation of an intervention addressed to promote the social participation, that is: 1) the way in which operators set adolescents’ expectations toward the intervention, 2) the measure in which operators’ actually promote adolescents’ agency in the interaction, besides the theoretical premises of the intervention, 3) the operators’ ability in making use of conflict among adolescents as opportunity for the promotion of their active and creative participation in a crucial social process such as conflict management.
