This article aims at elaborating the ideas of "dwelling" and "memory" in the context of urban anthropology. Through Heidegger’s perspective of dwelling (bauen) and Ingold’s ideas of "dwelling perspective", this article explores how a city elaborates its memory of the past and imagines its future. The case of Sesto San Giovanni illuminates how past industrial sites become part of a collective material imaginary.
