Recovering from motor and communication deficits requires an extensive knowledge of the compensation mechanisms and vicariance existing in the central nervous system. Such mechanisms involve the possible reorganization of the gnosis, praxic and phasic functions compromised or abolished by brain damage, through shifting processes of the function to perilesional area or re-connection processes of dedicated circuits that the injury itself put in a state of functional isolation. A form of rehabilitation therapy is represented by CIMT (Constraint Induced Movement Therapy): besides the technical intervention it is, however, necessary a support of the legislation that guarantees the disabled accessibility to public spaces.
