The risk of victimization connected to the Internet and new media requires that therapists must consider and reflect about the strategies of treatment of victims. These are teenagers that, even prematurely, are lured by online paedophiles during the active use of telecommunication and children who were abused, filmed or photographed and put online. The online abuse, in its various forms, can cause the same post-traumatic consequences of sexual victimization, with the aggravating circumstance that the images of violence, crystallized in the web, have a disruptive effect on post-traumatic experiences. Currently there are few experiences that indicate paths of treatment adjusted to the complexity and diversity of situations; a possible challenge is to adapt to this phenomenon established therapies for the treatment of trauma, with research projects which evaluate their effectiveness.

Keywords: Online sexual abuse, trauma, children, adolescents, treatment.
