French programs for urban renewal which trivialize popular areas engender demolitions and reconstructions of housings while seeking for the highest possible social and residential diversity. Based on a monographic survey, this article is questioning the effects of this program; demonstrating that instead of creating more diversity, it also contributes to increase supervision and division of popular classes.
