The contribution develops a critical reading of one of the most important urban phenomena of Rome in the last twenty years, the enormous development of commercial and entertainment polarities and residential districts attached to them. Large financial and real estate operations, they are emblematic of the "New Metropolitan Mainstream". The author assesses the effects on the transformation of the urban and new ways of dwelling through the analysis of one of these: Bufalotta-Porta di Roma.
