The totalitarian systems of last century can be a context of analysis for the loss of meaningful bonds among human beings. In some cases extreme situations represent an enlarging lens of the normal course of human stories. From this perspective, we can place philosophical political reflections on the meaning of the principle of solidarity, elaborated from the responsibility of each individual in relation to injustices committed in the world. In the writings of Karl Jaspers and Hannah Arendt, in particular, solidarity bonds are those that, taking part in an idea of common human dignity, guide action and lay the political foundation of the community.
