Children of the integration paradox (Wrench, Rea and Ouali, 1992), for the immi-grant students, school represents the most important environment in which to shape plans, aspirations and expectations (Jedlowski, 2017). Despite improve-ments, data (MIUR, 2019) indicate that these students are more likely to experi-ence the tracking phenomenon. From the analysis of focus groups conducted in some secondary schools of first degree in Naples, the immigrants’ aspiration para-dox is configured (Salikutluk, 2013). If, on the one hand, both immigrant opti-mism and blocked opportunities approaches seem to explain high aspirations, on the other hand, adopting the theory of significant others, seems that teachers and the peer group play an ambiguous role. In particular, the more or less intentional forms of exclusion generated by school institutions (Serpieri and Grimaldi, 2013) seems to reverberate more strongly on aspirations, foreshadowing dangerous self-fulfilling prophecies (Ravecca, 2009).
