MediCinema Italia ETS is an Association that, since 2013, has been using great cinema as a relief therapy in hospital facilities and nursing homes, supported by careful psychological support work, with its own intervention protocol. From a psychological point of view Cinetherapy indicates how watching a film creates a “pause effect”, helps reduce the perception of pain, creating a state of well-being. This paper shows several integrated research works carried out in England and Italy, which reveal how the perception of being a hospital patient changes when the patient is in a specially dedicated cinema room. The research works provide useful data on the change in patients’ experiences, both physically and psychologically and offers ideas for future and further research, as well as demonstrating that cinema has effectively entered the category of therapeutic value.
