The contribution is a commentary on the paper by Bosio, Vecchio and Lozza entitled “Health psychology as a profession: status, prospects and implications for the discipline and training”. The commentary essentially focuses on the training of psychologists in relation to the health needs of the community. An analysis of the evolution of psychology degree systems since 1999 is conducted and critical issues and resources are highlighted. Particular attention is dedicated to training through internships, where the distance between academic training and professional training seems to be lengthening. The commentary concludes with a call to uni-versities to take charge more extensively of psychological intervention to promote and protect the health of communities.
