The discussion responses on the target article, “Health psychology as a profession...” en-courage the authors to outline a scientific and professional development path for health psy-chology (HP) as an open, evolving process built on the interweaving of five fundamental di-mensions: a) Phenomenological construction (the historical, social, and cultural development of representations, models, and health practices); b) Scientific construction (the development of theories and methods anchored in a specific paradigm); c) Professional construction (the de-velopment of action profiles and action context to support profession building; d) Training construction (the development of path and aims as well as of expected competencies); e) Insti-tutional construction (the integration of HP within the scientific-professional landscape in rela-tion to welfare and health service delivery). This process is designed to be systemic and circu-lar.

Keywords: health psychology, scientific development, professional development, training, welfare.
