The collection of drawings preserved in the DAStU Archives makes it possible to reconstruct the professional activity of the engineer-architect Giuseppe Di Giovanni, an exponent of Palermo Liberty season, who grew up in the school of Ernesto Basile active until the 1960s. Thanks to Di Giovanni’s marginal status, his works turn out to be exemplary of the aspirations and professional practices of a generation that had to deal with stylistic (and not only) issues of the twentieth century. Indeed, his architecture stands at the intersection point between the adoption of a shared style and the search of a specific language for the Sicilian context, inspired by local traditional practices and models.
