The 1973 oil crisis and its direct consequences on the automotive industry marked the end of the Turin company town and the necessity to rethink its legacy by implementing a massive urban rebranding process. Since the 1990s, the city has used part of its real estate assets for strategies to enhance public heritage through forms of public-private partnerships. In this framework, the recent “Regolamento dei beni comuni” has become another tool capable of bringing together urban regeneration and local welfare projects through collaborative practices. The beeozanam case study put in evidence the ‘misunderstanding’ that arises when two incompatible models of collaboration are assimilated: public-private | public-community.
Keywords: public real estate assets, urban commons, urban austerity, informal welfare, urban regeneration, shared administration
