Critical theory and pedagogy never had a serious relationship. Pedagogists say that education is their object of study. But their point of view doesn‟t have scientific dignity well-known also by other disciplines. Pedagogical theories work principally in deciding values or methods, often imported from psychology and psychiatry. In this situation, educational processes are prevente from producing social and cultural emancipation effects. But in Critical theory, and in particular in Adorno‟s and Horkheimer‟s thoughts, we find coordinates able to lead a discipline, and also pedagogy, towards discovery of its "critical" duties.
