A quote from Quinodoz (2002, p. 31) gives body to the keywords around which is enucleated the sense of the paper: ‘setting’ and ‘interpretation’; they constitute the background of any psychoanalytic perspective of intervention, particularly those early and precocious. The setting means the functionality of a context in relation to its object, for which the setting itself was created: as said Flegenheimer, darkness to the cinema as a function of the film, the silent room for the execution of a concert. The neutrality of the setting then represents an aspect of itself therapeutically - matic that , as such, makes it unique to the relation that contains. «But the only setting can do nothing without the interpretation that gives meaning» (Quinodoz, 2002, p. 31), since it is necessary for us that the experiences they make sense. As is usual narrate the dreams in order to understand their meaning, so common is the need to share a traumatic experience to be able to understand it. It is observable these events at any age, characteristic of human nature. But words are necessary with the soul: what happens between children and their parents if the words lose their soul? Essential for their development, is the function of rêverie (Bion, 1962); if it is unable to activate and operate, the baby can not introject a mental home (Brenman) or use words with the soul; precious then may prove psychoanalytic interpretation, a metaphorical interpretation (Houzel, 1986). I think, with Francesconi (2002), that the specific function of the metaphorical mind is the simultaneous unity and multiplicity, that is the ability to tolerate the succession of confusion and safety, so common at the birth of a child but so intolerable in situations of emotional fragility. In this sense a psychoanalytic work done since the first days of life with babies and their parents may be saving for the mental life of the future adult and for the relationship between the baby and their care givers . Useful in this sense, the metaphor of Chinese Flowers (Heimann, 1958, p. 183) - small pieces of paper devoid of color and form that, placed in water, take fascinating forms - to illustrate the way it works psyche. As the Chinese Flowers need water to bloom in sensible forms, so the psychic apparatus requires another mind to enter the world of shared meanings (Racalbuto, 1997) and use the mentalizz-action as, the footsteps of Bion, I wrote in 2003.
