The Covid-19 pandemic strongly hit Northern Italy. In particular, Lombardy has been one of the Italians (and European) regions registering a dramatic number of deaths and infections dur-ing the so-called “first phase”. This paper aims at descriptively assessing whether a correlation between the Covid-19 epidemic and Lombardy’s economic-productive field is ongoing. In order to do so, a comparison with other two Italian regions (Lazio and Campania) will be pre-sented. The analysis shows a strong relation among the infection diffusion and the number of open companies and active workers during the Italian lockdown. This seems to be one of the determinants that caused the so-called “Lombard anomaly”.
Keywords: Covid-19; Health; Italy; Infection; Lombard anomaly; Work.
