The work of the Italian expeditionary corps in France during the Great War is an event well treated in historical studies. From the Official Report, published by the Historical Office of the Army Staff, many essays have examined the commitment of the 2nd Army Corps in 1918, chosen to go and fight on the Western Front. No detailed study, however, has ever been dedicated to their commander, Count Alberico Giuseppe Albricci. There is only one mention of this general, dated 1960, in the Dizionario Biografico degli Italiani, Treccani, written by Giampiero Carocci (1960). The author of this essay, in an attempt to at least partially cover this gap, based on the Albricci personal fonds kept in the Civiche Raccolte Storiche in Milan. These documents were not only useful in reconstructing the biography, who already boasts one of the most varied war experiences in the Italian military background of the Great War, in addition to the experience of Minister of War (1919). The private papers reveal his insight into a wide range of issues concerning Italy’s action before, during and after the First World War and the difficulties faced by the Regio Esercito.
