The article reflects on the uses of "diversity" in planning, with a particular attention to a local context in the London Plan. The focus is on how such a broad and broader concept as diversity may be used in an ambiguous way, leaving room to mobilise a rhetoric of difference that is functional to narratives of change where social and spatial justice issues may be reformulated to sustain mainly growthdependent urban development agendas.
