This research deals with causal attribution, in particular, the explanation of actions and behaviors in reference to intentional and mechanical models. In two studies, which were carried out using the priming of the activity and passivity concepts, we found that priming the concept of activity encourages more abstract interpretation of events and intentional interpretations of actions and behaviors. In contrast, the priming of the liability did not significantly influence these interpretations which led us to the hypothesis that conceptual priming asymmetrically enhances the role of the subject in relation to the role of mechanical and environmental factors.
