The history of Gap (Groups of patriotic action), born in October 1943 and the main matrix of the Movement of the Italian Resistance, has long been the subject of conflicting and irreconcilable historiographical interpretations. From 2014 to nowadays, many studies have contributed to a critical reconstruction of their history. These include the book by Luigi Borgomaneri, Li chiamavano terroristi. Storia dei Gap milanesi (1943-1945), Milano, Unicopli, 2015, on which this note is based.

Keywords: WWII, Italian armed Resistance, Italian cities, Terrorism, Historiographical interpretations, International comparison
