Reconciling work and family life, between equality and capability - Within a discourse about citizenship and gender equality, the article offers a rather new interpretation of work and family life reconciliation policies. Nowadays focused on boosting female participation in the labour market, in the frame of a citizenship built on a gendered perspective, they need to turn into a social citizenship right, that is into an instrument offering women as well as men more chances and capabilities to decide over their life courses.
