In this paper we present a promotional-educational intervention specifically designed to prevent driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs among young adults. Its goal is to make people aware of their behaviors and to augment their personal resources in order to increase the control they can exercise over their decisions and actions. The project comprises seven work units to be implemented in small groups and involves the use of active methodologies. Outcome evaluation of the intervention was carried out by comparison with the results of a control group which took part to an informative intervention. Both quantitative and qualitative tools have been used for the evaluation. Results show that the intervention has been able to change both behaviors related to drunk driving and other psycho-social determinants that may be considered antecedents of current and future driving behavior.
