What is social individualism? And what are the constraints that make it possible? Answering these questions, the author deals problematically with the trascendental western philosophy tradition and with the sociological differentiation theory. He uses further as opposite terms culture (particula- ristic and holistic) and society (individualistic and universalistic), and finally defines "social individualism" as an oxymoron in which is possible to see nowadays the utopian concrete form of a new socialism.
