Freud lettore di Edipo re ABSTRACT: This paper examines Freud's interpretation of the famous tragedy of Sophocles as an interpretation of a literary work. The dramatic composition of Oedipus rex, according to Freud, was but a secondary elaboration of Oedipus' complex, which is for him the very core of this tragedy and accounts for its success all over the centuries. The author does not share the psychological hypothesis about the Oedipus, but thinks and tries to show that it has been for Freud an effective key for the dramatic interpretation of the tragedy.
