The object of this paper is to try and build a systematic profile of the social theory involved in the concepts of organizational culture and climate. It attempts to lead the analysis of «organizational climate» where the literature uses mainly a psychological approach back to the social theories on organizational culture. The chosen approach can be traced back to the theory that sees organizational «culture» and «climate» as strong and determining factors in the functioning of organizations. The paper is organized in three sections: the first concerns organizational culture, the second analyzes organizational climate, and the third compares the two theoretical research approaches. Preference was given to an initial separate discussion of culture and climate, and then to examine common aspects and differences.
