Youth and city are two concepts in deep change: they are open to new forms and relevant to observe social creativity. If we consider that youth is always in an educational relation with its environment, we can appropriately link two issues: youth socialization and learning cities. However, the topic of learning cities is often focused on one theme: the assortment of educational places which are complementary to school. Another issue is important in order to define learning cities: the urban public spaces. The appropriation process of public spaces reveals relations between youth and institutions. Rollerblading in Paris gives an example of negotiation between police and youth about the way to take up public spaces, and shows the emergence of new urban actors. Keywords youth socialisation, urban sociability, space appropriation, rollerblading, learning city
