The principle of non-discrimination on genetic basis in recent international practice - Among the discrimination forms that can affect a human being owing to his/her deviation from a perceived normality, the discrimination on genetic basis can be enlisted, and quite paradoxically occupies an increasingly relevant position in developed countries where the possibilities of investigation of the individual genetic makeup have exponentially grown in the last two decades. The prohibition of genetic discrimination hasn’t yet be enforced by international Community rules. Only the Council of Europe has prescribed it in a compulsory norm, whereas at the universal level (ONU and UNESCO) only soft law rules have been defined.
