To be and willing to be in public perception: a survey on "Dürer and Italy" exhibition at the Scuderie del Quirinale - In 2007, the Centro di Didattica Museale was appointed by Pierreci with surveying the visitors of the Dürer and Italy exhibition which took place from March 10 to June 10 of the same year at the Scuderie del Quirinale. The survey was a pilot study based on the administration of questionnaires asking both usual questions and control questions on the comprehension of the exhibition. In spite of some contradictions on a cognitive level, the very high percentage of answers indicating satisfaction demonstrates that with the questionnaire - the commonest tool for museum surveys - only general trends can be detected because it lacks the necessary flexibility for a deep and real understanding of museum visitors. Keywords Questionnaire, museum survey, temporary exhibition, pilot study.
