Intervention in marginalization. Empowering strategies in social services for homeless - The aim of this qualitative research is to highlight the theoretical and empirical model underlying interventions of homeless services, pointing out differences between traditional aid and empowerment-oriented practices in social services. Results highlighted that empowerment-oriented interventions are aimed to promote social skills and participation to social activities. Feeling of trust and respect seem to be perceived as relevant aspects in helping relation with homeless. A feature that contributes to social system efficacy is the networking among social work system, health services, addiction facilities and non-profit organizations. Stigma and prejudices may contribute in building barriers and in being stuck in the role of social aid user.
