"Like treading on sea-shells". Support group and family in therapeutic work with addictions - Many research indicate the support of family and significant others, as part of their social network, is one of the key factors of addiction therapy. Recently, most attention has been given to the emotional costs and implications of offering support. We explain a support group experience with parents of patients in addiction treatment in SerT (public Italian service for addiction treatment) with particular attention to: resources activation, emotional flow, group thought, frequent topics and questions. Involvement of parents and significant others in the addiction therapy is illustrated beginning from the triple point of view: of the relatives, the professionals and the patients.

Keywords: Support group, family, addiction.
