This paper briefly describes the relationship between technology and education. From the very first teaching machines to modern internet environments, technology has changed from a container of information, to a vehicle of content and finally to an interactive space. Research nowadays cannot limit itself to the ways in which content is transferred. Instead, positive and pedagogically founded models should be provided for the use of technology, transversally valid and sufficiently flexible to be applied in different domains and educational contexts.
