On what we can hardly understand talking about work - Opening with an analysis of the first chapters of Genesis, the article comes to identify in "cultivating and preserving" the deepest meaning of the work that the Bible assigns to mankind, even before the fall and expulsion from the Garden of Eden. Within such analysis the creation appears as an event both perfect and incomplete, perfect because incomplete and incomplete because it is waiting for the unique and irreplaceable work of every single man. Once this fundamental logic has been defined, the article examines the main misunderstandings that afflict human activity when it loses its complex anthropological articulation; it implies the separation of "cultivating" from "preserving" and especially of that "utmost specialization" of the concept of work itself, which ends up being semanticized only with reference to the struggle for survival and the toil linked to it.
Keywords: Creation, care, toil, completion, responsibility, work/labour
