Public Administration as promoter of citizenship: the territorial dimension - The article suggests some reflections on the role of Italian Public Administration in promoting democratic participation processes, considered as basis of citizenship. This is a right affirmed in Italian Constitution and rich in social implications, such as social inclusion and cohesion, legitimacy and confidence in public institutions. That is why, to study relations between public role and citizenship may be interesting for sociologists. It is also pointed how is important to consider territorial dimension in this kind of analysis. In particular, it would be essential that interventions in favour of participation would be promoted by the institutional level more close to citizen and his needs.
