Medium-sized enterprises have recently represented the subject of analysis carried out by a number of scientific studies. Nevertheless, these studies are mainly focused on industrial middle-sized enterprises. The present paper, on the contrary, aims to deepen the knowledge of middle-sized enterprises operating in the service industry; in particular, it shows the findings of an analysis conducted on a wide sample of middle-sized enterprises operating in the KIBS sector, highlighting the structural characteristics and the performances of this typology of firms in comparison with the small ones.
