In the last years the memory issue has been analysed in depth from sociology of cultural process. According to many sociologists, in an era characterized by changes, by liquidity of values and identities, by globalization of knowledge and myths, memory becomes central, sometimes merely as functional tool, other ones as "nostalgia", or as social ritual or, at the end, only as identity totem. The paper proposes an empirical analysis about several forms and attitudes toward memory. The aim of the research, carried out through 52 in-depth interviews, is to analyze the "young memory" in new generations, observing how young people, living within complex media and network environments, develop their relationship with the past and create their new approach to memory: they are likely to strongly modify memory role and functions in our society.
