The central topic of this contribution is an analysis of the development of the local tourism systems, which has generally involved the Italian regions where, dating from the respective laws actuating the national tourism reform law nr. 135/2001, an interesting and innovative experience has been developed to define a new model of aggregation for integrated tourism development. A new model for governance of the local tourism system based on public/private partnership where the public institutions and the private organisations reach an agreement in the formulation of local development projects and the integration of other productive realities with tourism.
