According to the author, the relationship in a couple can be understood as a kind of creation, within certain limits, of the person who promotes it and the other who shares it. Through the use of clinical cases, he maintains that the person we know and with whom we enter into a relationship is somehow already present in us. The relationships are often determined by some characteristic of the other person that propose again, either consciously or unconsciously, some attribute of an important figure from the past, or of ourselves.
