The movie "Departures" (2008) allows us to reflect about the paths of psychological cures and especially about the possibility that the aim of cures, regardless of the nature and severity of the pathology of patients, is the continuous pursuit of beauty. The movie suggests that beauty can always be found even if we are dealing with terrible or sad situations. It hence is proposed that beauty is a process that should be distinguished by the beauty as a static feature of the objects: the first is a continuous search for transitional configurations in which transformations occur, the second paralyzes the Self in a magic configuration in which a beautiful object may replace any search for beauty.
